Zoinks, Scoob!

I got in about an hour ago from a trip to our subaru mechanic. That's because we bought a subaru and it was making a really annoying noise. I went for a ride with the mechanic and he heard the sound. Then someone else found the problem within minutes of putting the car up on the lift. Oddly enough, it happened to be a problem that I DID read about on forums -- one of several possibilities. Its not anything I would have seen without the car being elevated. Then he reset the computer to see if our check engine light would come back on. It apparently was set off by our torque converter magnetic pickup ... ok. Well, the light came back on after I got some gas, and when I got home the car wouldnt start.
Not to fear.
I managed to figure out why the car wouldnt start -- the gear selector is a little fussy and if it doesnt click just right, you can't change gear or start the car. So it just needs to be pushed all the way forward in park. Then, after I managed to start 'er up, I noted that the engine light didn't stay on. Yay.

Now I need to figure out dinner.
