Shawsino

I dreamt that I was at a shaw's supermarket, in the coupon casino. There were a bunch of green and orange slot machines into which I fed my coupons. Whenever you won, it would spit out a new coupon redeemable for cash or groceries. I got lucky and won about 990$ worth, and it tried to print out a laminated coupon. I tore it off and started looking suspiciously at the other gamblers as they caught on to my big winnings. Then I started to wonder how I was going to redeem my coupon, since there were no employees around.

mystery man

On tuesday morning, near a traffic light on my way to school, I saw a guy on a skateboard almost fall as he tried to stop near the crosswalk.
On wednesday morning, same time and place, the same guy was rolling along on some rollerblades looking unsteady and about to fall.

I began to wonder if he was experimenting with modes of transportation.
He wasn't there today.

An An ecdote

from www.myfavoriteword.com...
Contradict.

Although I am now Australian, I was born in Scotland.

My father was serving in the British Army when we returned to Southampton Docks from a tour of duty in Hong Kong.

Of course, we had to undergo Customs inspection.

I was taught never to lie.

The Customs Officer asked my mother the quantity of cigarettes and alcohol she was declaring.

My mother answered the correct amount.

My father was then asked the same question, and when he answered incorrectly I spoke up.

"No you haven't Dad. You've got X amount."

I learned my first big word that day from the uniformed Customs Officer.

He was a tall man and I was only a small boy.

I can still see him in mind's eye.

He leaned towards me, pointing his right index finger and said "Boy, never contradict your parents."

I know today what contradict means and I heeded his advice.

Yay, bubbles!

My jug of ginger brew + extra sugar has finally started to bubble in a seriously visible way. I have kept it next to the heater or in the sun whenver I can because it's cold up here in the new place. I also bought 2 different kinds of apple juice at the gro'ry store the other night because it turns out I liked my cider more than I thought. I felt ridiculously overwhelmed by all the different kinds of apple juice, and don't get me started on the organic alternatives and other fruits and blends. Good thing we're gonna get a spare fridge :-)
