It's so warm out today that If I don't look out the window, I feel like i'm in a sunny spring meadow.
I need some prescription sunglasses! It's that time of winter when snowbanks and puddles become blinding. In other news, I've started taking zinc supplements in the hope that underarm BO may be a thing of the past. I have (perhaps foolishly?) avoided any deo/antipersp with aluminum salts because I heard they could be bad for ya. So I basically have been using tom's of maine and now this other orangy stuff all natural and non-staining but not very effective at times.
After 2 particularly bad days, my inner George Clinton burst out saying "GIVE UP THE FUNK!". I began a little research party. Some of the more popular and sensible remedies:
vinegar (lowers pH of skin, making it hard for the odor-causing bacteria to survive there)
zinc supplements (I have no idea why this is purported to work)
chlorophyll pills (apparently work well to reduce a wide variety of bodily odors)
turnip juice (?!?)
H202 ,Rubbing Alcohol (presumably to wipe out the bacteria as well)
So, I'm on day 2 of zinc, and after using an antimicrobial cleanser, I have experienced a return to normalcy. At this point, I would give the credit to the cleanser, but only time will tell if zinc beats stink.
I am, of course, reminded of the simpsons' filmstrip about the importance of zinc, though the uses mentioned there were in firing pins and telephones. ZINC!!! ZINC!!! Come back!
